Public Health Early Years’ Service (PHEYS)

Public Health Early Years’ Service provides the healthy child programme

Our Public Health Early Years’ Service provides

  • Health Visiting
  • Oral Health
  • Breastfeeding Support to families of children aged 0-5 years across Calderdale.

Our high-quality, holistic approach means our services are accessible for all families. It brings a consistent, efficient and effective response to support your young child’s healthcare needs.

Each family has a named Health Visitor. The Health Visitor who, if the family wishes, acts as a care co-ordinator and a single point of contact between the family and any other health and social care professionals who are providing support.

Your Health Visitor works directly with your whole family to make sure you are consistently supported and with guidance are able to take ownership of your family’s health and health care goals.

Locala has 2 SEND champions, who are experienced Health Visitors.

It is their responsibility to stay up to date with all information and communications about SEND. They pass their knowledge on to the Health Visiting Team in Calderdale. They also have close links with the Rainbow Child Development Service.

All PHEYS health visitors work closely with Early Years childcare providers. After your child’s 2 to 2.5 year review they will talk to the childcare provider about your child's health and development. They will only do this with the parent carer's permission.
